A large fire broke out at the Cheryomushkinsky bread factory in Moscow, affecting part of the production facilities. The factory is one of the largest enterprises in the city’s food industry and produces a significant share of bread and baked goods for the Moscow market. According to preliminary information, the fire started in the second half of the day, and fire brigades arrived to contain the blaze. There is currently no official information about casualties, but employees were evacuated and the area around the facility has been temporarily closed off.

The Cheryomushkinsky bread factory accounts for about 10 percent of Moscow’s baked goods market and is among the ten largest enterprises in the industry in Russia. Its production capacity ensures stable supplies to retail chains, making any operational interruptions sensitive for the consumer sector. The fire raised concerns about possible disruptions in production, but authorities stated that the situation is under control and measures are being taken to prevent supply chain interruptions.

Initial reports indicate that the fire covered a large area, requiring substantial firefighting resources. Fire services continue working at the scene, cooling structures and preventing the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. Specialists are assessing potential risks to equipment and infrastructure, which will help determine the timeline for resuming production after the consequences are eliminated.

The causes of the fire have not been identified, and officials announced the start of an investigation. Various scenarios are being considered, including technical malfunction and possible violations of operating rules. Experts note that investigations in such cases take time, as it is necessary to assess the condition of the buildings, engineering systems and safety infrastructure.

Information will be updated as data is received from emergency services and company representatives. Moscow authorities assured that oversight has been strengthened and there is no threat to the population.
