The Israeli Air Force has carried out airstrikes on Tehran, targeting central districts and sites allegedly linked to military infrastructure. The assault is part of a broader military confrontation between Israel and Iran that has escalated following mutual strikes by both sides.

According to official reports, one of the targets was the SPND nuclear research center. Also hit were facilities involved in ballistic missile production and ammunition depots. The Israeli Defense Forces stated that at least 60 fighter jets and around 120 different munitions were used in the operation.

The strikes hit densely populated areas of Tehran, near offices of civilian organizations. Iran’s Red Crescent reported damage to a building located in close proximity to one of the explosion epicenters. Local services noted partial destruction of infrastructure and disruptions in power supply in some districts of the capital.

Iranian authorities labeled the Israeli actions as aggression and vowed to respond. A state of heightened alert was declared nationwide. Iranian air defense systems were activated, intercepting part of the incoming missiles, though some managed to reach their targets. Damage was recorded to both civilian and strategic infrastructure.

International organizations expressed concern and called for restraint from both sides. Representatives from several countries issued statements urging immediate de-escalation. Despite efforts by individual nations to mediate, the situation remains unstable.

Previously, tensions between Iran and Israel had intensified over disputes regarding Tehran’s nuclear program. Israeli authorities repeatedly stated their willingness to use military force to prevent the development of nuclear technology for potential military use. Iran, meanwhile, denies the allegations and maintains that its program is strictly peaceful.

Developments continue. Preliminary data on casualties is still being clarified. Emergency and medical services are working at the impacted sites. Further statements from both sides are expected soon.
