Major brands freeze exports from Taiwan for at least two weeks
Global laptop manufacturers HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, and Asus have suspended shipments of their products to the US for at least two weeks. The reason is a sharp increase in customs tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration amid escalating trade tensions with China and its Asia-Pacific partners.
The decision to suspend shipments primarily concerns devices manufactured or assembled in Taiwan, which supplies a significant share of laptops for the American market. According to analysts, the new tariffs significantly raise the retail price of devices, making them less accessible to consumers.
