Pakistan launches retaliatory operation in response to Indian strikes
The Pakistani army announced the start of a retaliatory operation following missile strikes from India. All armed forces in the country have been put on combat alert, the air force is in the air, and missiles have been launched toward India.
The Ministry of Defense of Pakistan announced the launch of a military operation in response to strikes previously carried out by India on Pakistani territory. The statement says that the country's air forces were immediately put on full combat alert, and aviation was airborne within hours of the attack. According to Pakistani sources, the air force and missile troops were involved in targeting sites in the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The Pakistani Defense Minister made a statement calling India’s actions a “cowardly attack,” adding that Pakistan would give an “even stronger response.” He stated that India's attack violates all international norms and constitutes a direct threat to regional security. The Minister also challenged the Indian side, suggesting they “come to the battlefield” if India is ready for open confrontation.
According to the Pakistani army, missiles were launched toward India as part of the operation. Reports state that more than ten targets were hit in Indian Kashmir, including strategic facilities, depots, and one of the air bases. In particular, sources claim that strikes were carried out on the Srinagar airbase located in the administrative center of the region. In addition, according to army representatives, two Indian military aircraft were shot down in aerial combat.
The Indian side has not yet confirmed losses, but the Indian Ministry of Defense declared its readiness to “respond to any aggression.” Military positions are being strengthened along the Line of Control. Evacuation of civilians has been announced in border areas, including Poonch and Rajouri. A heightened security regime has been introduced in the regions, railway communication has been interrupted, and journalist access to the conflict zone has been temporarily restricted.
Pakistan's retaliatory operation came in response to India’s earlier operation codenamed "Sindhur." At that time, the Indian army struck alleged terrorist infrastructure on Pakistani territory. Indian officials stated that the attack was aimed exclusively at objects threatening national security.
Pakistan, in turn, rejected the accusations and called India’s actions unjustified military aggression. Pakistani Foreign Ministry representatives appealed to the UN to convene an emergency Security Council meeting and urged other countries to mediate the conflict resolution. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan claims that India's actions threaten the stability of the entire South Asian region.
The military actions have caused serious concern in the international community. Representatives of China, Turkey, and several European countries called on both sides to de-escalate the conflict immediately. The UN Secretary-General made a statement urging India and Pakistan to exercise restraint and comply with international obligations, especially given both countries possess nuclear weapons.
Experts note that this new round of conflict between India and Pakistan is the most serious in recent years. Tensions in the region persist amid political instability and the lack of direct dialogue between the parties. Military analysts warn of a high risk of escalation and unpredictable consequences for the entire South Asian region.
At the time of writing, there has been no official information about casualties resulting from the missile and air strikes. Both sides continue to build up military presence in border areas. Civil structures have announced the mobilization of reserve services, and security measures have been strengthened in major cities and strategic facilities.
