Typhoon “Halong” Hits Japan’s Izu Islands

The powerful typhoon “Halong” struck Japan’s Izu Islands early this morning, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and transportation disruptions. According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, wind speeds in the storm’s core reached 55 meters per second, with gusts up to 70 meters per second — equivalent to a Category 3 hurricane.
