Erdogan Says Turkey Will Monitor the Gaza Ceasefire

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the ceasefire situation in the Gaza Strip, noting that Israel has a history of failing to uphold its agreements. According to him, the record of Tel Aviv’s actions shows that the occupying regime has repeatedly violated ceasefire terms, leading to renewed waves of violence and suffering among civilians.

Erdogan emphasized that Ankara intends to closely monitor the implementation of the peace agreement reached through the mediation of Turkey, Qatar, Egypt, and the United States. “Israel has a sad history of violating ceasefire agreements. However, Turkey and the U.S. will monitor the implementation of the agreed terms,” said the Turkish leader, adding that ensuring compliance with the ceasefire would be key to its sustainability.

The president’s statement came amid reports of new strikes on the southern part of Gaza City, despite the official announcement of a cessation of hostilities. These incidents have raised international concern and cast doubt on the parties’ willingness to uphold the agreement.

Erdogan noted that Turkey will continue to advocate for diplomatic resolution and humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. He stressed that Ankara will not abandon the Palestinian people and intends to work toward establishing a long-term guarantee mechanism to prevent such violations in the future.

According to Turkish experts, Ankara’s stance reflects the country’s desire to maintain its status as one of the key mediators in the Middle East peace process. Turkey has repeatedly called for fair international oversight of the parties’ actions and for ensuring a genuine ceasefire rather than a temporary pause.
