President of Mexico Confirms Presence of U.S. Agents in the Country
Claudia Sheinbaum stated that U.S. agents operate officially and under the supervision of Mexican authorities.
Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed that U.S. agents are operating within the country. According to her, all their activities are based on official authorizations and currently do not pose any issues for the Mexican government.
Sheinbaum emphasized that American representatives do not conduct independent operations. All enforcement actions are carried out exclusively by Mexican structures, while U.S. agents are limited to coordination and information support. Their activities are under constant supervision, and they are required to report regularly to Mexican authorities.
The president noted that security cooperation with the U.S. continues within the framework of previously concluded agreements. The primary focus is on combating organized crime, controlling drug trafficking, and ensuring border security.
Nevertheless, the acknowledgment of the presence of foreign agents in Mexico has sparked public debate. Some politicians and public figures expressed concerns about national sovereignty and called for stricter regulation of foreign intelligence activities.
Sheinbaum assured that the government maintains full control over internal affairs and will not allow violations of sovereignty. According to her, all actions by foreign representatives are strictly confined to cooperation agreements and adhere to national legislation.
Mexican authorities stressed that security cooperation remains an essential component in combating transnational crime but requires constant monitoring and strict adherence to established rules.
